The Homeless: Opposing Viewpoints

Gr 9 Up-A revision of The Homeless (Greenhaven, 1990). Of the five chapters featured in this edition, two remain the same; two others have either been overhauled or have experienced a change in focus. A new chapter, "How Can Society Help the Homeless?" typifies the inherent modifications throughout a text that accommodates current developments and controversies in an ever-evolving societal debate. The number of essays per chapter varies from four to eight, with questions for consideration preceding them and a list of periodicals for further reading concluding each discussion. Gone are the critical-thinking activities that concluded each chapter in the earlier title, but a section at the end of the book poses additional questions per chapter. An updated list of organizations to contact includes a brief overview of the purpose and philosophy of each one.
