Gr. 2^-4, younger with adult help. Ross continues her holiday series with this book, which draws not only on themes and elements associated with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah--dreidels, menorahs, etc.--but also on symbols that are part of year-round practice, such as yarmulkes and the Star of David. The projects associated with games--among them, a button-flipping game called latkes in the pan--stretch the holiday concept, and there is nothing about safety (one project is a menorah constructed with candles and an aluminum-foil-covered box) nor much about the symbolism. However, the text is clear enough for handy youngsters to follow easily, the graphics are cheerful, if not step-by-step, and the projects can be adapted to several age levels. Enough to fill a void in holiday crafts collections.
