Black-and-white photographs on nearly every page help dramatize the excitement, challenges, and dangers of the careers. Sidebars cover subjects such as gender bias, technology, and history-making events related to the profession. Far beyond the quick, easy facts required for those often tedious career research assignments, these books offer a layered, complex view of each job and give readers a good idea of the rewards and drawbacks of a life in either profession.
