Who Discovered America?

This cross-curricular unit explores the many peoples who discovered America and asks "Who is discovering America today?" Ancient legends of travel to the New World are presented and explored, as is archeological evidence of the earliest peoples to cross the Ice Age land bridge from Asia to North America. The story of Leif Ericsson is recounted, as is that of Christopher Columbus. Projects involve literature, science facts, creative writing, research skills, art, and math. .
