The House with a Clock in It's Walls

Lewis Barnavelt isnt at all sure he is going to like living with his Uncle Jonathan in New Zebedee, Michigan. But when he gazes up at his Uncles three-story stone mansion with its tall turrett and bright lights blinking at every window, he feels a whole lot better. Lewis had always dreamed of living in a mansion, and Uncle Jonathan- eccentric and lovable- makes him feel right at home. In the three weeks before school starts, Lewis explores dozens of unused rooms and secret meandering, passageways, which is almost as fun as playing evening poker with Mrs Zimmermann, their next door neighbor, and laughing at Uncle Jonathans amazing magic tricks. But things take a decided turn for the worse when lewis discovers a different kind of magic lurking in the grand old mansion, one that ticks quietly and determinedly behind every wall, like a human heartbeat.
