I was compelled to write this book as a way to share with others what it's been like for me after I found Jesus and all the things I've experienced since; to share what life's been like after I was saved. Quite frankly, I didn't understand what it meant to be saved before it happened, and still wasn't entirely sure what it meant even after it happened. Needless to say, I suddenly had a lot of new questions, different than the ones I'd been asking my pastor for the past fifteen years. So the idea for this book is simply to share my experience as a new Christian. And if there is anyone like me (Lord help them) who doesn't understand, just like I didn't; or is struggling as well as a new Christian, maybe the things I share might shed some light on the subject. Please understand, this is not an instruction manual for 'how to be saved' or 'how to live life as a new Christian,' but simply my own account of what I experienced based on my uniqueness and individuality; just a girl who was once completely lost and a total mess, who finally came to know the Lord. I didn't plan to find Jesus. The only reason I decided to read the Bible that morning, was to try and get some answers and hopefully gain a sense of peace after dealing for weeks with the unbearable pain from a pretty bad breakup. Not knowing where to begin, I opened it to the gospel of Matthew and started reading. I had no idea the impact the gospel of Matthew would have on me; but by the time I was finished, I was sobbing uncontrollably. I'd known about Jesus' crucifixion my whole life and had even seen the movie The Passion of the Christ, but it wasn't really personal to me at the time. Once I realized the sacrifice Jesus made was made specifically for me, it suddenly became profoundly personal. I never knew I was supposed to seek God either. I'd always just assumed he was an invisible and distant being in the sky that was simply there to watch over me and listen to my prayers whenever I was sad or scared. I didn't really know that much about God or where He came from or even consider the fact that He wanted to be close to me. So I'd like to just say, if you already know Jesus as you read this, then this is just a book about a girl who'd been really lost, thought prayer was something you reserved only for desperate times when there was nowhere else to turn but God, and waited until she was forty-six years old to figure it out, repent, and finally accept Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and devote the rest of her life to God. Eight months have now passed since I was saved and began my walk with God. The decision was not planned. And while I've learned a lot in my journey so far, I still have a lot to learn. This book details the things I experienced during the first six months after finding Jesus.
