DCI Bruce's 10th case and his last for the moment, when his ex boss, Ken Meacham, discovers a body and insists, even though he is now retired from the Met and is a PI now, that he should be involved. The reason for his insistence is the body he found was that of a maid from the large house that he'd been keeping under surveillance. More murders follow and are all seemingly unconnected but as the case progresses it becomes clear that the murderer isn't the one who is really responsible. The real culprit is the person who has paid for it all to happen!
