What is the difference between a preacher of the letter and a preacher filled with the Spirit? In POWER THROUGH PRAYER, E. M. Bounds issues a passionate call for lives based on prayer. It is much prayer that leads to anointed preaching. Edward McKendree Bounds (1835-1913) was a Methodist clergyman. He was born in Missouri and trained as a lawyer, but felt called to ministry. After seminary studies, he served as pastor of a church in Missouri, and during the Civil War he ministered to soldiers as an army chaplain. After the war he again served as a pastor, where he encouraged powerful weekly prayer sessions. He was devoted to private prayer between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Along with much preaching, he edited several Christian newspapers and wrote eleven books.
