A Connecticut Yankee in King Authur's Court has always been considered one of Mark Twain's (1835-1910) major works. It style ranges from slapstick humor to bitting satire. A New England mechanic of the late 1800's, after a bump on the head, finds himself in the year 538 in England near Camelot. The Yankee brings industrial and scientific development to Camelot, which Twain uses to show how these developments have made men insensitive and led to human suffering. But over all Twain satire is out weighted by his humor.
