A MUST READ, NOT TO BE DISAPPOINTED

LOVED THIS BOOK... that is the best way I can describe it. Two couples going to a wedding in a remote area off Scotland's coast. They are the bridesmaids and their partner/husband going for their friend the bride. When one disappears it becomes a murder mystery. Jimmy Perez the detective who arrives on the scene, has lost his wife and has a daughter Cassie. He is a very compelling detective who seems to 'think' things through. Together with Willow Reeves, they make a good couple although she does get impatient with him at times. The story of a little girl's ghost who appears only to a childless woman is interesting. The women who see her then become pregnant later and when the two girls, at different times, see this lass on the shores of the beach they are scared and intrigued. Or are they? this is the question I know I would be both...... then when one of the girls is found murdered, you had to wonder what is happening here. I loved this story because it didn't have the usual things happening, did keep me wanting more and reading it to find out who actually did the murder. Also didn't have the usual suspect ending. A great read and Ann Cleeves who also writes Vera stories is a great writer. Read more
