Kindergarten-Grade 2–These clear and graceful texts provide an overview of the featured subject, followed by its life cycle with the progressing months highlighted in circular arrows. Each book concludes with a full-page, four-part diagram of the cycle, showing, for example, the egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages of ladybug development. Crisp, close-up color photos appear on every page. Each book contains a link to the publisher's Web site, which maintains a list of current online resources. While all three titles will be useful for reports (though Apple and Oak Tree lack expected details on photosynthesis), young readers will probably gravitate toward Ladybug more readily than to the other books, and will be pleased by the fascinating close-ups they find there.
