John Taylor works a lot as a day laborer or cowboy, taking pretty much any job he can get. Actually, he spends most of his time resenting Richard Hahn, the man who’s living with the woman John loves—John’s wife, Jessie. She took their daughter and moved out on him a couple years ago. As far as the town’s concerned, she and Richard are as good as married. But when Hahn got the ransom note that said a gang of kidnappers would kill Hahn’s family—John’s wife and daughter—if he didn’t pay up, Hahn knew there was only one man who could help him. The one who hates him most.  The one who would do anything—even ride next to his enemy—to rescue his beloved Jessie.
