This is a story about the obsession of a young boy and the extent to which he will go to fulfill his dream. Woven through Billy Stanton's quest are insights about bigotry, male versus female, children versus parents, and the teenage hormonal view of the world. But most of all it is about having a dream and the value pursuing it gives the dreamer. Billy Stanton is only four feet ten inches tall even though he is a junior in high school. He is an obnoxious mixture of emotions, constantly at war with his parents, a teenager dialed up to the threshold of pain. To complicate his life even more, he loves basketball. He will do anything in order to play.
