To Claim a Promise

When Nan found herself alone in the world, the only thing she had left was a promise made to her by a young Rebel soldier. Armed with her mother's healing bag and her trusty slingshot, she left the world that she knew and began a search that took her into the Union occupied lands of Alabama. She encountered enemy soldiers, bushwhackers, blizzards, and land grabbers. Her best friend was an abandoned dog that helped her survive in the harsh world that she entered. Her faith in God and her ability to endure the last days of the War Between the States saw her through the years to claim her promise.
