This is the true-life story of a girl born in the veld of South Africa and raised on safari by two adventure-loving parents, who went into the jungle with two small children to apprehend poachers who were killing animals indiscriminately. When her father, a game warden, was badly mauled by a leopard when he tried to defend himself with his bare hands, they were forced to return to civilization. To her that meant culture shock, but loving animals, she aspired to become a veterinarian. At 17, as apprentice veterinarian, she stumbled upon a different career when cast in a film that brought her to Cape Town. She met the love of her life and put her show-business career on hold to go on a second safari, mapping future tourist spots while traveling across Africa on an unforgettable adventure, following the elephant migration paths. As white-spirit mascots, they had the rare experience of seeing the Nuba wrestling matches. At the horn of Africa, they were held captive by a strange interbred group as possible new breeding stock, but were lucky in escaping. Later, they spent two days up a Baobab tree with a pride of lions below, camping around their vehicle. On returning from the second safari, her life took a dramatic change when she was betrayed, and her love became star crossed. She escaped to London, starring in a revue. Nine months into the show, she was spotted simultaneously by two scouts from Las Vegas and the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Given the choice, she chose the romantic Moulin Rouge. She returned to South Africa, and found the love-of-her-life situation in a stalemate. On the rebound, she married her co-star, the dwarf playing Toulouse Lautrec.
