In 1881 Susan Elston Wallace of Indiana traveled with her husband Lew Wallace, U.S. Minister to the Ottoman Empire. This is a record of her journey.. The first edition of The Storied Sea was published in 1883 by James R. Osgood and Company of Boston. This Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society commemorative edition is being published as part of our Hoosier Bicentennial project, culminating with our 2016 exhibit on Hoosier authors.
