Nick and her cousin, Helena, grew up sharing sultry summers on Martha's Vineyard in a glorious old family estate called Tiger House. Following World War II, Helena goes off to Hollywood and a new marriage while Nick reunites with a young husband home from war. Back at Tiger House with their children on the brink of the 1960s, the cousins try to recapture that sense of possibility -- but the intrusion of violence causes everything to unravel.
