Frederick John Ponting 135 of The Royal Army Medical Corps. During the retreat of Mons he was captured by The Germans, Transported, starved and beaten. He frequently wrote postcards and letters home to his wife and family. These writings are of historical importance as they detail what life was like as a prisoner of war.
