My life has been greatly influenced by travel over a period of more than 65 years. During this time, many things have changed, and I have had more than my fair share of travel-related experiences. With this book, I would like to document the most memorable. Where possible, I have included contemporary photos to provide "local colour" and to provide some contemporary impressions of those times. This book does not purport to be my memoirs nor be a travelogue, but rather describes personal anecdotes, directly or indirectly related to travel. By the nature of things, although mishaps make a more lasting impression, most holidays and journeys were uneventful.
