A History of Louisiana

Much of the history of the U.S. centers around early Spanish and English influence. Louisiana was the result of FRENCH trading and exploration, and of course of the 1803 "Louisiana Purchase". The accounts of the transition from French to Spanish rule in 1769 are engrossing.
