Hearing the laughter, shouting, booms and bangs of children at play inspired this book. What is peace and what does it mean to us today? Voices in The Wind is a children's picture book discussing world peace with felted illustrations. Needle felting has become a passion for many folks these days. Just as figures can be formed in clay or cast in metal, the fibers artist can take fleece from a sheep, goat, alpaca or even a dog and create a solid object. Through the repeated rhythmic poking with barbed needles which push and pull the fibers, these fibers felt, becoming firm and strong. It's amazing how a little pile of fuzz one minute can turn into the face of the person sitting across from you. All the figures in this book are people who somehow crossed paths with the artist and left an impression. Once the felting was completed the figures seemed to have their own story and from that grew this book.
