This book contains the names of over 2,300 people who lived in the District South of French Broad & Holston who had surveys done to obtained land grants from the State of Tennessee between 1806 and 1812. It consists of abstracts of all surveys done to purchase land in the District South of French Broad & Holston. The District South of French Broad & Holston consisted of all of Blount County, almost all of Sevier County, except the tip above the French Broad River, the part of Cocke County west of the Big Pigeon River, the part of Knox County south of the French Broad River, the part of Jefferson County south of the French Broad River. Each abstract contains the person for whom the survey was made, number of acres, location of land, neighbors, entry number, date of entry, date of survey, and chain carriers, usually family members or neighbors who assisted the surveyor. Published 2004, 8 ½ x 11, softbound, 161 pages.
