I attended my first writer's event this year (2001 Black Writers Reunion and Conference - Dallas, TX) , and I was re-introduced to spoken-word poetry, which is memorized and passionately recited with or without music. It was very lyrical and beautiful to the ear. I was also reminded that the promises of Christ must not only be heard, but listened to with hearts that are broken, receptive, quiet - in other words, they must somehow resonate with our third ear. Otherwise, the choices set before us daily - life or death; faith or defeat - can slip right by us in our hustle-bustle world - unnoticed, unaccepted and un-believed. To this end, A Trilogy, which seeks to touch our hearts with the uncompromising promises of Christ, is comprised of Poems From the Fast (Book One) ; Reunion (Book Two) ; and this final offering, Third Ear (Book Three) .
