This is a detailed handbook of whitewater safety and rescue techniques for canoeists, kayakers and rafters, whether they be a recreational paddler or a professional river guide. The book is divided into four parts: (1) safety, i.e., staying out of trouble; (2) rescuing people when staying out of trouble fails; (3) caring for and evacuating people who are physically or emotionally injured; (4) recovering equipment.
