Canada's Atlantic Folklore and Folklife Series has been created to record and help preserve a way of life peculiar to the Atlantic seabord. Contributors to the series come from all walks of life -from the proud fisherman to the humble academic. The aim of the series is to bring to the general reader, as well as to those with a professional interest, an appreciation of a community and/or individual world view, which is unique. There has been little or no interference on the part of the editors in the presentation of the material in this series. The memoirs, anecdotes and tales presented here have been maintained in their original form so that the integrity of expression reflects more honestly the culture which we are striving to preserve.
