I use the term "country wine" to mean those wines made at home from fruits other than grapes. Making wine from fruits is very different from making wine from grapes, even though the principle is the same. I live int he country and make wine from fruits we grow at home, gather from the wild, or but at the farmers' market. Making wine st home can be a fascinating and rewarding hobby. It is very inexpensive, not difficult at all, and takes a modest amount of time and effort. Each new batch of wine is a thrill-to start, to watch develop, and to arrive at that final moment when the wine is poured into a clear glass goblet, held up and inspected for color and clarity, sniffed for it bouquet, and finally tasted, savored, and exclaimed over with pleasure. -Sylvia Fisher
