Music Publishing in St. Louis (Bibliographies in American Music)

In 1988 The College Music Society issued Music Publishing in St. Louis as Volume 11 in its series Monographs and Bibliographies in American Music. This text was prepared by the prominent St. Louis music scholar Ernst Krohn and, after his death, was completed and edited by J. Bunker Clark. This work, which was handsomely produced and is lavishly illustrated with reproductions of twenty-one title pages, must be considered the definitive study on the early history of this subject (well into the early decades of the twentieth-century) . Those individuals with a personal or professional interest in the history of St. Louis as well as in the musical life of the community will appreciate Professor Krohn's study as a valuable addition to their libraries.
