Gr 5-9-This adequate biography covers Gates's life from his birth to his first interest in computers and on through his company's domination of the field of technology. Raatma is somewhat overeager to extol her subject's accomplishments, but the book should provide the basics for reports. The text covers Gates's early home life, ambitions and goals, achievements, personal life, and current activities. The last chapter deals with the Microsoft antitrust case, but ends on a very positive note, in keeping with the tone of the rest of the book. Some nice touches are the black-and-white photos and sections on "How to Become a Computer Programmer" and "How to Become an Entrepreneur." A serviceable addition where needed.-Carol Fazioli, formerly at The Brearley School, New York CityCopyright 2001 Cahners Business Information, Inc.
