Document-Based Assessment for U.S. History

To prepare students to write essay answers to document-based questions (DBQs) in Global (World) and U.S. History, these timely activity books with reproducible pages direct students step by step through the analysis of primary and secondary source excerpts. Each book presents more than 20 DBQs on standard topics (''Absolutism and Democracy,'' for example) . For each topic, the books provide students with historical context and half a dozen excerpts each followed by a thought question, and they provide teachers with specific answer keys, a scoring rubric for the essays, and (sometimes) sample essays with suggested grades.
