For Memorial Day, the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department decides to host a reenactment of a World War II battle and a USO-style dance. The whole community gets involved, and when Bob pulls out his fathers old uniform, Charlotte is delighted to see that Bob is taking an interest in something outside the farm. With patriotic spirits running high, Sam begins to rethink whether he wants to join the military. As his final days of high school approach, will he make the best decision for his future? Meanwhile, Emily is desperate to find a way to go to the prom with her boyfriend Troy Vanderveen—even if it means lying to her grandparents—and Christopher interviews some local veterans and learns that heroes can come in all shapes and sizes. As the past and present collide, everyone is humbled when they realize just how much previous generations have sacrificed for them.
