Joey "Spider" Storch's class is going to participate in the Third Grade Olympics! Spider and his team will compete in the long jump, basketball, jump rope, and relay race. Except Spider isn't so excited about the relay race, because he's not such a good runner. In fact, he's a lousy runner. And his friend Zachary is giving him a hard time about it. But although Spider dreads the big race, he finds himself caught up in Olympic Fever, cheering on his fellow teammates--even clumsy Mary Grace Brennerman! And after they're both sent on an errand to the creepy teacher's lounge (where no kid has ever gone!), Spider and Zachary realize they can depend on each other. In the end, the spirit of teamwork might just be enough for Spider to finish the race.
