The town of Mesa Pines, Colorado needs a school teacher. Town mayor Tate Donovan is charged with finding the right person. Norah Hathaway doesn't fit his idea of a schoolmarm. She's too young, too pretty, too inexperienced. Norah resolves to prove -- to Tate and to herself -- that she's up to the job. Tate's two young nieces work their way into her heart, as does their uncle. Slowly, the four of them fashion a family, not of blood, but of the heart.
