Wilson concentrates on the political rather than social history of the Oklahoma Osage Indians, financially better off than other Native Americans because of their tribally held oil and gas rights. This is an insightful study of one tribe who didn't lose everything. Wilson's emphasis on the dilution of Osage blood through intermarriage and the problems it causes in determining rights to the mineral wealth would have benefited from a chapter on the social impact of intermarriage.
