Using a variety of papers, glues, molds, armatures, decorative finishes, and sealers, this project-packed book (more than 100 items) moves far beyond the grade-school approach to bring papier-mâché into the world of art. The basic pulp is a bit more complicated than the flour/water/newspaper method but still fairly easy, and it can be dyed if desired with cold-water fabric dye. Embellishment possibilities are virtually unlimited, and the wonderful projects range from elegant to folk art to whimsical and include bowls, vases, boxes, pitchers, jewelry, frames, candlesticks, clocks, mirrors, animals, and even a full-size throne chair.
