Gettysburg was the end for Jake Sinclair. When the blood-drenched battle ended, the Confederate sharp-shooter looked over the field of dead and dying soldiers and decided he-d had his fill of war. First he planned to head to Texas to tell his friend's family how their boy died in the war, and then he'd go home and put it all behind him. He didn't get far before a battlefield scavenger tried to kill him for his horse. Jake ended up on the winning side of that skirmish and took the thief's guns and saddle for himself, to help him on his journey. But fate isn't through with Jake yet. The scavenger killed someone for that saddle, and when a sheriff recognizes it, Jake finds himself on the run again---this time for murder.
