Grade 4-8-These books provide simple explanations with examples of the basic mathematical concepts identified in each title. Chapters are subdivided into sections with bold headings; a one-inch gray band with text devoted to a mathematical definition, explanation, or suggestion appears on the bottom of each page. Examples and problems set off in rectangular boxes resembling spiral notebooks provide visual interest. The authors do a good job of explaining each topic and of giving detailed, grade-appropriate examples.
