Chapters begin with one or two paragraph overviews, but most of the pages are filled with color-coded text boxes that provide related information about geography, language and literature, science and math, history, social history, and the arts. Coverage is mostly standard fare and the books certainly do not teach students all about these ancient cultures, but short paragraphs, colorful illustrations and photos, and informative maps and diagrams will attract readers, making the series a supplementary choice.
