From School Library Journal Grade 4-7 - An entertaining introductory look at a swath of discoveries, and at some of the people who made them. Divided into four areas ("Nature's marvels," "Earth's riches," "Lost wonders," and "Hoaxes and frauds"), the heavily illustrated two-page units present 31 various finds. Ranging from Tollund Man to Przewalski's horse, the source of the Nile to deep-sea vents, Machu Picchu to the Vung Tau shipwreck, each topic is described through several paragraphs of narrative, fact boxes, full-color photos/illustrations with captions, and an occasional quote from the adventurer/scientist/discoverer involved. Relatively up to date (the Hitler diaries and
