From School Library Journal Grade 4-7-Two brightly illustrated introductory texts bring these periods to life. Both begin with an overview of the major news events of the decade, followed by sections on significant achievements in science and technology and references to some of the people responsible for them. The rest of each title is filled with descriptions and pictures of the popular trends, people, and styles that defined the era. The scope is broad and includes events not only in the United States, but in other countries as well. Profiles of prominent figures are scattered throughout. The Sixties introduces Beatlemania and Motown music, TV shows such as Star Trek and The Monkees, and dance crazes. The Seventies covers disco and punk rock, blockbuster movies, and the women's liberation movement. The books are colorful and generously interspersed with photos and information boxes, but the texts are slight.
