From School Library Journal Grade 9 Up—Although it offers several perspectives on prevention, this book is flawed. Contrasting opinions are provided through articles on comprehensive versus abstinence-only sex education, prostitution, homosexuality, and virginity pledges. Some of the pieces are reprinted from well-known sources but others are of more obscure origin. Coverage is uneven as not all the ideas introduced are examined from opposite positions. An entry about regulated prostitution is from an academic journal and is loaded with off-putting statistical jargon. None of the articles contains facts or statistics more recent than 2005, although a facts section at the end of the book is more up-to-date. For a better, more engaging (though no more current) overview of STDs and prevention, try Miranda Hunter and William Hunter's
