From School Library Journal Grade 10 Up—This volume has articles on premarital sex, civil unions, abortion, celibacy, the ordination of women, and so on. The book includes a general introduction and bibliography, detailed discussion questions, and an annotated list of organizations. There are a few charts, cartoons, and other graphics. Each of the four sections has a preface and a periodical bibliography (which includes some fairly obscure titles). The excerpts are preceded by brief summaries and "questions to consider." There is no glossary; a basic knowledge of Judaism and Christianity is assumed, and while a few unfamiliar terms and references are defined in context, most are not, with the result that some arguments will make no sense to average readers. While many perspectives are represented, some are extremely antireligious. Ironically, the more "conservative" viewpoints are often fairer and more balanced than the "liberal" ones.—
