From School Library Journal Grade 8-12-- Condensing the events and changes of the '60s into a slim book is no easy task, but Fisher basically mangages to achieve his purpose. He focuses on each year separately, pinpointing the major international news stories of the year, from the U2 crisis in 1960 to the landing of man on the moon in 1969. Subtopics are "World News," "Sport and the Arts," and "Science and Technology." The page-by-page format of the book gives it the appearance of a newspaper, and the short articles emphasize this overall impression. Information is abundant and varied with an emphasis on British news (this is a British import). Dramatic news photos and portraits enliven the text, which, unfortunately, is marred by several errors: the dates of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birth and assassination, and of Robert F. Kennedy's death. A detailed time chart, brief biographies of the decade's key figures, a bibliography, and an index add to the book's utility.
