From School Library Journal Grade 3-5This British import urges read ers to use imagination and variety in textile decoration, but many aspects of the book make it difficult to do so. Em broidery and related arts are usually identified with color, but there are only four pages of color photographs in this book (the rest are in black and white). There are, however, good diagrams of basic embroidery stitches in two col ors. Most of the photographs show pro jects done by children from ages 5 through 13; but younger children trying to use this book will find the directions too difficult, and older children will be frustrated by directions that are dashed off too quickly. The process of tie-dy ing, for instance, is explained in one short paragraph. An unnecessary pur chase.Carolyn K.
