From School Library Journal Grade 3-6-- Scott highlights the lifework of Len and Bunny Brook, the founders and owners of the Sanctuary for Animals and its subsidiary, the Dawn Animal Agency. For 30 years, the Brook family has rescued abused, abandoned, and unwanted animals of all types and given them a refuge for life. Camels, lions, and other large animals share their home with ostriches, chickens, and mice. All live in harmony with their strictly vegetarian caretakers. Black-and-white photographs show the animals at work and at play. The text emphasizes the need for all animals to be cared for responsibly and with love. In order to support the hundreds of creatures residing on their New York State Farm, the Brooks founded the Dawn Animal Agency, a talent agency that supplies many prominent stars of the stage, screen, and print media. Children will recognize many of the animals in the illustrations from ads and movies as well as television programs. The book's message is that all animals have the right to live safely in dignity and with respect. An interesting and unusual addition to animal sections. --Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling School, NYCopyright 1991 Reed Business Information, Inc.
