In 1542, bullies are pummeling twelve-year-old Charlie when a girl who seemed to appear out of nowhere suddenly rescues him. In fact, Geneva appeared out of the year 2042, and she has come to take Charlie to her time to save the world. Eager to get away from his harsh grandfather, Charlie travels with Geneva through time to LAanges, where he is quickly briefed on the reason he has been brought forward: an insane, evil man, Gramercy Foxx, is getting ready to unleash a computer program which will allow him to control the minds of everyone on the planet. What Foxx and Charlie have in common is their ability to manipulate a force called the Hum.
