Kaleidoskop

This intermediate text uses a flexible, four-skills approach to promote communication. A primary emphasis is placed on reading, because it is the skill students are most likely to retain and use after formal instruction has ended.Kaleidoskop is organized into two main sections, Lektüre and Grammatik. A cultural and literary reader, Lektüre features 10 Themen, which present excerpts and complete texts that reflect contemporary Germany, followed by reading comprehension activities, and speaking and writing practice. Grammatik offers a comprehensive grammar review in 10 Kapitel, which recycle and integrate vocabulary used in the Themen and provide proficiency-oriented practice. The Sixth Edition includes the Rechtschreibreform. To the Student notes highlight reading strategies, present a table of text types with distinguishing characteristics, and introduce useful words and phrases for use in classroom conversation.
