There is an increasing need for assessors of vocational qualifications who are trained, competent and qualified to national standards. The "Assessor Workbook" is centred on two units of these national standards - the D32 (Assess candidate performance) and D33 (Assess candidate using differing sources of evidence) units of the Training and Development Lead Body standards. These two units form the basis of assessor qualifications of City and Guilds and other awarding bodies such as RSA and BTEC. The book gives basic information and guidance on what is involved in being an assessor, from planning the assessments, judging evidence and observing performance to questioning candidates, giving feedback and record-keeping. It includes case studies from a variety of subject areas, including administration, carpentry and joinery, construction, health and social care, and practical exercises to help build knowledge and skills. It also features worked examples of both the NVQ and GNVQ assessment process.
