St. Martin's Anthologies of English Literature: The Middle Ages, 700-1550

This volume starts with caedmon and covers the range of Medieval literature up to the time of Thomas More. The Old English extracts, which include a selected Beowulf, the elegies, some heroic poems and riddles and several prose extracts, are in modern English translation. The very wide selection of Middle English Writings, from Langland, Chacer, Malory and many anonymous writers, is presented in the original language with marginal notes and footnotes, or with a full translation where appropriate.
