My Highland Kellas Cats

This book is an account of a wildlife mystery that led to the discovery of a new species of "wildcat," hitherto not recognized by science. Farmers on the fringe of Exmoor suddenly began losing their sheep at an alarming rate in the spring of 1983, and set up patrols to catch the predator. Yet, savaged corpses were left on the hills night after night with no clue as to the killer's identity, other than fleeting glimpses of a strange black panther. Di Francis joined the hunt for new evidence of the catlike creatures, and while the panther eludes her, the trail has led to a ferocious pair of black Scottish "wildcats" of unknown origin.
