Green Globe Yearbook 1993: An Independent Publication on Environment and Development from the Fridtjof Nansen Institute, Norway

This major reference demonstrates to a worldwide audience how successful the international community has been in solving specific environment and development issues, what are the main obstacles to effective international solutions, and what is needed to overcome these barriers. It begins with articles by prominent, independent experts who provide an up-to-date description and evaluation of the problem concerned. It focuses on the results, impediments, and challenges to international co-operation. Subjects covered are: marine pollution; the impact of UNCED on environment and development NGOs, and vice versa; safety of nuclear reactors in the former USSR; controversy over sustainable forestry; conversion of the World Bank to green values and sustainable development; international business and sustainable development; GATT and the environment; and biological diversity from a north-south perspective.
